Sainsbury’s Great British Beer Hunt Launches in September

Sainsbury's Great British Beer Hunt

Sainsbury’s is once again introducing 20 new beers to its seasonal aisle this autumn to battle it out on-shelf to be named the winner of the 2013 Sainsbury’s Great British Beer Hunt.

For three weeks, from September 11 until October 2, the finalists’ beers from four regional heats, which took place in May, will go on sale in Sainsbury’s supermarkets for the chance to win one of two coveted six-month listings in stores across the country. The 12 highest selling beers will go through to a grand final on October 4, where the final winners will be selected by a panel of beer experts.

Variety is the spice of life this year with beers from Devon, Cornwall, the Gower Peninsula, Lake District, Lisburn, Orkney, Lincolnshire and Oxfordshire battling for customers’ attention . Amongst the 20 shortlisted are citrus-spiked Gower Gold, fiery Black Pepper Ale, tropical Serendipity and spicy Barney’s Brew.

Lovers of craft brewed beers can choose from one of the five India pale ales that have made it through, including the light, fruity and crisp Wayfarer, while Infra Red is an altogether stronger, hoppier, red beer. With wheat beers, lager-style beers, oak smoked porters, rich and fruity pale ales and beers brewed in the style of German Doppel Bocks and French and Belgian seasonal ales, there really is something for everyone.
